. . . Br. Joseph Smith jr. said that inasmuch as the Lord has bestowed a great blessing upon us in giving commandments and revelations, asked the Conference what testimony they were willing to attach to these commandments which should shortly be sent to the world . . . 1
1. Several volunteered to give such testimony when a revelation was given expressing such a testimony which the brethren then signed. The testimony was to be published in the "Book of Commandments." However this book was not published because of mob action where the book was in press. A few incomplete copies were saved, but another attempt at publication was not made until 1835.
