Resurrection - Eternal Judgement

Sabath 9 Joseph & Hyrum commenced delivering a course of lectures to the Church in Iowa upon the first Principles 1 of the gospel. More particularly the Ressurrection from the dead & eternal Judgement also the Doom of Murderers & Adulterers &c.

Notes

1. The list of the first Principles of the Gospel, faith, repentence, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands are found in LDS scripture (Pearl of Great Price, Articles of Faith 4). This list adds two more, following Paul (Heb. 6:1), resurrection and eternal judgement. Perhaps the motive for this was to encourage members to rise above the primitive conditions which surrounded them. This was neither the first time these two principles are listed by Joseph Smith as being fundamental, nor the last. (Compare sermons of 27June39 and 7Apr44).
